How can a professional organizer help me?

A professional organizer can help you achieve and maintain order and the peace of mind that comes with it. I bring expertise and an objective eye to your situation, and help guide you to discard unwanted objects that are cluttering your life. I also organize your belongings and create systems to help you stay organized. By hiring a professional organizer, you’re making a commitment to work toward creating the environment in which you want to live.

Why hire a professional organizer? Can’t I do it on my own?

Most of my clients come to me after trying to organize their space for years and being unsuccessful in doing so. Time, energy, focus...there are so many obstacles that stand in the way of starting and finishing a project. Hiring a professional organizer gives you encouragement to visualize a space in a different way, implement the customized systems that are established, and keeps your spirits uplifted while moving through the project in a timely fashion. Another added benefit is the one-on-one coaching on how to maintain your organized space long after your project is complete.

Will you make me throw away my things?

Anything you discard will be your decision alone. I won’t throw anything away without your permission. If clutter is a problem in your home, you’ll almost certainly need to part with unneeded or unwanted items to attain your goals. I’ll help you identify those items and guide you in your decision making. And I’ll cheer you on as you decide to give up things that no longer support your vision for your space!

Will I have to buy new furniture or a lot of organizing products?

Not necessarily. If you’re like a lot of people who crave order, you probably have quite a few organizing products on hand, and I will strive to use items you already own. If lack of storage is an issue for you, you may decide to purchase some type of furniture or shelving.

If you do decide that you would like to use additional products, we will determine an agreed upon budget for those supplies. I will even do the product shopping for you at no additional charge!

Should I tidy my house before you come in?

Please don’t. :) I want to see how you really live. It’s important that I see any disorder or stacks of stuff that habitually appear, so I can figure out how to make them disappear and stay away. This process is completely confidential and judgment free.

How does the process work?

1) Consultation:

I will come to your home or office to do a walk-through with you to learn about your organizing needs and goals.

2) Sort, Declutter, Categorize:

At our first session, I will help you sort your belongings into categories and guide you through the decision-making process. We’ll strive to keep only those things you need, use, and love. You decide what stays or goes.

3) Organize & Contain:

Once we know what will remain in the space, I will design an organizing system and source any products we’ll need. I can then work independently to organize, or you can join me in the process. When everything is in its place, we’ll go over the system and establish the routines that will help you maintain organization.

4) Check-in:

After our sessions, I will follow up with you for feedback. I will also check-in after completing the project to ensure the system is working for you.

How long will it take to organize?

It depends on the size of the room, its current state, and your motivation level. Some clients simply need someone to help them get started and can finish the jobs themselves. Others prefer to work with me from start to finish, and the amount of time required varies based on these factors.
